IPL turning into an even bigger brand!
Now and then, we keep looking for something to watch that entertains us and involves us in a manner that getting out of it isn't easy. And that is how sports come into the picture if you are a sports lover.
Out of all the sports played in the country, Cricket is treated very differently and it is the most followed sport, especially in India. People go all crazy for it and are okay to sit down in front of their TV screens for hours if they follow a particular side. I happen to be a big cricket lover myself and I understand how it hooks to see both sides performing and finally, how the chase goes because that is what the real thrill is.
But have you ever thought that your excitement, passion, and patriotism does come into the picture when it is our country that is at stake? When the batsmen of our country are chasing, then every ball played matters and your breath is literally in your mouth. With every falling wicket, your hope and excitement drops and that is understandable. However, since we are operating in May and are already 1 month down in the IPL, I come to think about how long has this journey been and what a season this has turned out to be. So many records, so many new and emerging players with so many exciting records, and so many thrilling finishes where the match would go till the last ball.
IPL did start in the year 2008 to bring together players from different nations with an intent to give a chance to young talent and then the best talent to fix their spot in the Indian Cricket team in the tour they are most suitable for. Now that enables the players to play so many league matches and then eventually lead to the top. It is also interesting to see players from the same nation compete against each other and bring out their best.
Also, one of the biggest headlines that IPL gives every year is the auction ceremony at which different players are sold at varying prices and that is the talk of the town for a few days. The more the value of the player, the more the pressure but something that is guaranteed is the entertainment it brings and how the probable target at the rate of 20 overs is only increasing every day. A six is no more an astonishing shot but an expected stat in a player’s performance, especially someone who is comparatively new.
Today as I write this, Delhi Daredevils is finally out of the league after their recurring losses. But the competition is still on and this thrilling season has only so much more to unfold.
I do not watch every match but I do watch the highlights, and every time I go like, maybe I should have considered watching at least this match. Poor me :D But anyway, I am looking forward to the semis and finals.
